On this course you will delve into the abundance of materials that are all around us. Nature has somany plants that can be woven such as horseradish, nettles, tree bark, bramble, iris leaves, dandelion stems and so many more. Nadine will show you how to identify, harvest, process, store, then how to prepare the fibres for weaving. We will use a base of willow bark, split willow and skeins to make your basket and will be taken step by step through how to coppice willow poles and process the bark ready for weaving. The rim will be made from split hazel or willow and the handle can plaited plant material, cordage or leather. This course will teach you many different techniques for basketry materials including how to use willow for its bark, how to split rods to make willow skeins and how to split willow to create wider weavers. It will also open your eyes to the weaving materials that you can forage and importantly how to process them for weaving.
All tools and materials are provided. No prior experience is necessary.
