Woodland Makers is a collective of craftspeople and makers based at  Brookhouse Woods in Herefordshire

Our woodland workshop is situated in the beautiful Herefordshire hills just outside Bromyard. The workshop is completely secluded in a woodland that overlooks the Malverns - a clearing in the middle of the woods, protected by a simple structure and a clear tarp is where we create, share meals and evenings around the fire. There you find shave horses, pole lathes, chopping blocks, a forge and an array of hand tools. You can immerse yourself in the task at hand while the birds are singing. On site we have simple accommodations like cabins, benders, camping pitches and a yurt available as well as a compost toilet and an outdoor hot shower. We cook our meals in a comfortable outdoor kitchen. Baking pizzas in the big cob pizza oven is part of summer’ s weekly delights and we are always happy to be surprised with new dishes, made by course participants.

The workshop is used as a working space throughout the whole year. Courses are held during spring and summer - find out more about our course schedule here. Private tuition is available by request. Visitors are welcome any time by appointment - please contact us.

The workshop was originally built in 2004 by renowned green woodworker Mike Abbott. Mike had a long tradition of taking on assistants in the workshop and it has been a nurturing home to many well known green woodworkers who still make their living using the skills learned during that time.

Upholding this tradition is very important to us, and we are always keen to hear from people who are interested in spending some time in the workshop learning while helping on courses and with the development of the space.
