On this course Will will be guiding you through the process of cleaving fresh green Ash felled in our own woodland, and using it to make all the components of the chair. We will use traditional hand tools to shape and finish the components, steam bend them over the fire, and use the natural properties of green wood to create beautiful solid joints to hold the chair together without the need for nails or glue. Seats can be woven from Danish cord or natural Coir cord.
19th - 24th June - Traditional Chair Making Week in the Woods with Will St Clair
Once booked, course dates are non refundable
Breakfast and lunch are provided on the course, along with unlimited tea, coffee and biscuits. Evening meals are not included in the course fee as some people stay off site, but usually we all put £35 into a kitty and cook communally, so don't worry if you don't fancy cooking! Please let us know if you have any dietary requirements.
At the moment, we have one simple cabin available for £10 per night or there is plenty of camping space and places to park small campervans. The cabin will be given to the first person to ask for it, and camping spots will be allocated upon arrival. The cabin has a sprung mattress, but you will need to bring bedding or a sleeping bag. Hot water bottles are a good idea too!
