25th - 26th May - Weave a Barkcraft Side bag with Nadine Fox Grundy

Learn the amazing versatility of bark and learn to process, weave and create your own bag.
Bark is a fantastic material, harvested in the spring and summer time when the sap is up and can be woven, folded or made into cordage.
On this course we will look at a selection of different barks from my collection and weave a beautiful bag from locally harvested willow bark that you could use for foraging or as a side bag.
We will look at a selection of different barks and their uses, such as lime, willow, sweet chestnut and elm, how to process the bark into usable material and how to store bark for later use.
During the two days you’ll learn how to harvest and process coppiced willow bark, how to rive and how to weave.
You will use the bark that you have processed to weave a small side bag with a shoulder strap and lid. This can be made either with leather or woollen felt.
While weaving your foraging bag you will also learn how to process other materials such as nettles,
horseradish and various leaves for cordage.
