Aimed at intermediates or confident beginners this two day course will begin by focusing on straight grain spoons and how to use the axe, knife and hook knife safely and effectively. We'll look at the various ways of orientating the wood as well as wood selection and spoon design. As we carve we'll cover how to achieve crisp facets and how to carve a neat finial. Then we will move on to bent branch spoons, and you'll learn how to split your bent billet safely and then where to orientate the crank and we'll discuss why these types of spoons are held in such high esteem. Finally we'll spend half a day focusing on how to lay out a kolrosing design and the techniques needed to bring it to life.
